Keigan Parker Signs for City
Cork City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Keigan Parker until the end of the season.
The Scottish centre-forward, who has played over 400 games in England and Scotland, joins the club following a trial with the club earlier in the month. The 30-year-old, who has also been capped at Under 21 level by Scotland, scored Blackpool’s second goal in their League One play-off final win at Wembley in 2007 and was most recently with Ayr United in the Scottish First Division, where he won last season’s SFL Goal of the Season award.
Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie shortly after signing his contract at the club’s training ground in Bishopstown on Monday afternoon, Parker said he was pleased to have signed for the club: “I’m very pleased to have signed for the club. I have always wanted to play in another country, so I am looking forward to it. I like to play off the shoulder of the last defender and get in behind the defence, to create chances for myself and for others.
“I have signed until the end of the season, and I have heard a lot of good things about the club – it’s fanbase and also the training facility here. I’ve had a look at the league table and it looks quite close, so I don’t think there is anything to stop us climbing up the table and hopefully challenging for the top three or four.”
Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said: “We will have a look at him in training and hopefully he will be available for the game against Sligo on Sunday. When he came in on trial he did well, he looks like he is capable of scoring goals. He is probably a different type of striker to what we have had previously, and he also has a lot of experience and I think he has a lot to offer to us.”
