Team News for Watford Game
Cork City face Championship side Watford on Tuesday night in the first of two friendly fixtures at Turner’s Cross this week.
City drew 2-2 with league leaders Sligo Rovers on Sunday evening, and Cork City manager Tommy Dunne has indicated that he will make several changes to his starting line-up, which will offer City fans the opportunity to see some of the young talent coming through the ranks at the club, along with at least one trialist.
Speaking ahead of the game, Dunne told CorkCityFC.ie that it will give several players a chance to make an impression: “It’s an opportunity to have a look at a number of players. (New signing) Keigan Parker will start and we will have a trialist, Kelvin Bossman, who was previously at Reading and was most recently playing in Holland, involved also. There is also a possibility we may have one or two other trialists involved, including a left-sided Croatian underage international who has been recommended to us.”
“We also have a number of players, such as Dan Murray, Kevin Murray and Neal Horgan, who have not featured regularly, and it is a good opportunity for them to get some game time as well. We also have some of the players who have stepped up from our Under 19 team from last season. They have been training with us since the Under 19 season ended, and it will be interesting to see how they will fare, and good for our supporters to see the potential that exists at the club.”
“Obviously Gearóid Morrissey will not be involved tomorrow night, and our thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time.”
“Watford had a good season last season, and in Gianfranco Zola they have a manager who I expect will improve them even further. He did a great job at West Ham in the past, and I expect they will be fit and will also be an excellent side to watch. The surface at Turner’s Cross is excellent at the moment, so I expect it to be an entertaining game.”
