Steven Beattie signs two year contract

Cork City Football Club are delighted to announce that Steven Beattie has signed a two year contract with the club.

Beattie joined the club in July from Sligo Rovers and made fourteen league appearances, scoring three times.

Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, Beattie said: “This is where I want to be and that is why I have committed to the two years. It is a very exciting time for the club; John has fantastic plans and I am just delighted to be part of it for another two years.”

“He is bringing in lads who are hungry for success. We were close the last two seasons but I think this year it will be very interesting to see how things are when everyone comes in. It is very exciting, I can’t wait to get going and I wish the season was starting tomorrow.”

“We want to win the league, we want to win the cup. That’s why I signed back, that’s why other people are signing, we want to be successful; we are hungry players, we don’t just come here to play football, we come here because we want to win things. You can see that hunger around the club; in John (Caulfield), John Cotter and everyone else. This club has been starved of success and hopefully we can bring some back next season.”

Cork City manager John Caulfield said he expected the attacker to continue the impact he made when he arrived midway through the season: “Steven has signed a two year contract and committed himself to the club. In the short time he has been here, he has quickly become a fans favourite, because he is dynamic, energetic and whole-hearted. He scores goals, creates goals and he had a big impact when he came in.”

“He always wanted to stay and I am absolutely delighted to get it done, because he is a really dynamic player and a player who really wants to win. I am really looking forward to next season with Steven in the team.”

“He was cup-tied when he came in last season, but you could see in the league matches that he played, particularly at home to Dundalk, he was a constant thorn in their side and he chipped in with a few goals as well. Most importantly, he is dynamic, creative and can go past full backs, which is the type of player we need, so he is a fantastic signing for the club.”
