Research: main sources  were the Cork Examiner, Irish Times, and Evening Echo. These can be accessed at the Local History Department, Cork City Library, Grand Parade. The Examiner is usually the best avenue, as it gives match reports, teams and photos. The Irish Times would have less detail usually, sometimes not giving teams (emphasis more on Dublin teams!) The Echo rarely gives teams but can give background information on players etc, which can be very useful for a club and player history. The quickest way of researching is to book time on the microfiche (ring a few days in advance to book an hour or two), as you can print off the necessary information rather than having to write the teams etc there and then. However caution is needed – sometimes pages have not been scanned onto the microfiche, so you might have go to the Irish Times anyway or refer to the newspapers in paper format. Also in one instance, the scorers listed on the Examiner  for one match was wrong and I had to double check the Echo which confirmed the error. On another occasion, only ten players were listed on the Examiner and I had to check the Irish Times for the eleventh. Finally, some match reports did not state whether it was B or T Neiland.
