16. John Dunleavy
Position: Defender / Midfielder
Date of birth: 3/7/1991
Height: 183 cm
Weight: 75 kg
Birthplace: Donegal
Nationality: Irish
Previous clubs: Wolverhampton Wanderers, Barnet
Johnny joined Cork City shortly prior to the 2012 season, and was one of the club’s premier performers during their first year back in the top flight.
The 21 year-old is able to operate anywhere across the back four as well as in the centre of midfield, and is a dogged yet supremely accomplished footballer, with an intelligent defensive-minded brain – although he did score a bullet of a header against Shamrock Rovers up in Tallaght in June.
Dunleavy began his career with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers, but was released by the club in 2011 after injury cut short a loan spell at Barnet. John then returned to Ireland in 2012 with City, after a trial with MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps.
