Kalen signed with Cork City in 2010 having played at underage level with the club, and was virtually an ever-present member of the victorious 2011 side that claimed the First Division.

A composed central defender who can also operate at left-back, he is blessed with a powerful shot and the ability to spray forward accurate long balls, at just 21 he is always developing his game, and endured a pretty big learning curve last season.

Yet another Cork lad, Spillane began his footballing career with local side Carrigaline United, playing a key role in the club’s impressive run to the third round of the FAI Cup in 2009.
