The Under 19’s had to settle for a point from their trip to Ballbofey at the weekend where a poor performance yielded the third draw in five league matches so far this season.
As ever, City started the best of the teams creating some decent chances that went a begging. The hosts rallied and Paul White in the City goal had to be at his best on two occasions as Harps grew in confidence as the first half progressed. Nearing half time Rob Lehane ran on to a Daniel Santry flick on to finish well past Shaun Patton in the Harps goal to give City a one nil lead going in at the break.
The second half started pretty much as the first with the visitors doing most of the pressing but a defensive slip up midway through the second half allowed Cathal McDaid to get in behind the City rearguard and fire home the equaliser. Try as the might, the visitors were unable to force a second goal to give them the win and had to be content with the draw from their long journey.
The Under 19’s will face Shelbourne next Sunday afternoon in Bishopstown at 2pm where they will look to return to winning ways and close the gap on the league leaders.
