End of Season Awards

With the season drawing to a close, voting is now open for the Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards.

The awards will be presented at the 7th Annual Cork City FC Hall of Fame, which will be held at the Metropole Hotel on Saturday, 3rd November.

To vote, simply nominate your choice by emailing info@corkcityfc.ie and put “Awards” in the subject line.

The Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards are all open to your choice, while for the the Hall of Fame you may pick one of the following nominees:

Gareth Cronin
Cork 1975
Debut: v Bohemians 2-1  31 August 1994 (L H)
Honours: FAI Cup (’98) League Cup (’98)
International caps (with CCFC): “B” International

A versatile player who was equally at home in central defence and at left back. Also lined out in midfield during his two spells at the club which saw him line out for City over 250 times.

Philip Long
Cork 1961
Debut: v Tramore Athletic 1:0 13 August 1986 (MC, A)
Honours: FAI Cup (’98) League Cup (’87) Premier Division (’93)
One of the elite group to win all three national trophies while in City colours, Phil would contest the title of best-ever left full with any of his successors at the club.

Stephen Napier
Clonmel 1972
Debut: v Waterford United 4:1 18 August 1991 (LC, H)
Honours: FAI Cup (’98) League Cup (’95) Premier Division (’93)
International caps (with CCFC): 1 x Under-21

A lion-hearted defender, Stephen shirked no challenge in his two spells in City colours. Ranks in the club’s all-time top ten appearances list.
