Gearoid Morrissey was warmly welcomed on a return visit to his old primary school Scoil na Croise Naofa on Thursday the October 25th.
Gearoid’s schoolboy club was Ringmahon Rangers and he is one of Cork City’s best players. He has represented Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 level and so it was important for the kids to see that if you eat right, exercise regularly and work hard at what you want to do that it can pay off in the long run.
Gearoid spoke to the 5th and 6th class pupils about the basics involved in good diet and exercise as well as teaching them some essential football skills. He was put on the spot with a few questions from each class including who was his favourite teammate and who was the best player he has ever played with/against but there were fantastic questions from all. Gearoid signed everything from rulers to backpacks and he also did a draw along with Clodagh and Michelle from the 96fm street fleet for some Cork City FC goodies.
Even the principal Mrs. Orla Barry got in on the action and stood in for a photo with Gearoid next to his signed international jersey hanging in the school halla. We would like to thanks all the staff and pupils at Scoil na Croise Naofa for such a warm welcome and we hope to see you again next season.
