Cork City FC claimed the League of Ireland Premier Division title for the first time in the club’s history on May 22nd 1993.
After a three-way tie with Shelbourne and Bohemians led to an extended play-off series to decide the destination of the title, City were crowned champions following a 3-2 win over Shelbourne at the RDS on May 22nd 1993 in the sixth play-off game.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of our first league title win, and to mark the occasion the club will hold a private function for players and staff from the victorious team at the Cork International Airport Hotel on Friday. The players and staff will then attend the game against Bray Wanderers at Turner’s Cross on Friday night as our special guests.
The team will be introduced to the crowd on the pitch at half time, and we are calling on all Cork City supporters to show their appreciation for our first ever league champions when they make their appearance.
