Healy, McNulty & Buckley sign for 2014

Colin Healy, Mark McNulty and Garry Buckley have all signed up with Cork City Football Club for the 2014 Airtricity League Premier Division season.

All three players were part of the 2013 squad, and will be joined by new signings Darren Murphy and Anthony Elding, both of whom have signed for the club in recent days.

Ireland international Healy has been back at the club for a second spell since the beginning of the 2012 season and will continue to lead the line in midfield, while 2014 will be Mark McNulty’s 11th year with CCFC – having claimed City’s number one shirt as his own in 2010. Twenty-year-old Buckley, meanwhile, forged into Cork City’s starting XI on a regular basis last season and is keen to improve even further over the coming 12 months.

“I’m delighted,” Buckley told CorkCityFC.ie. “When I spoke to John, he had a very positive outlook on things. He made up my mind for me and I can’t wait to get back going. The new signings show John’s intent in being competitive. Anthony (Elding) will bring goals, Darren (Murphy) also brings a lot – and they are two good additions to the squad.”

Speaking about his new manager, the club’s former U19 double-winning captain added: “(John’s) been very positive. He’s not coming in for the sake of it – he really wants to win things. Being a Cork City man himself, he knows the expectations that come with the club and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“I want to make as many appearances as I can next season but I also want to win things. A nice Cup run, top 4 in the league – but, for me personally, I want to top last year by making more appearances.”
