Mark O’Sullivan Signs for City

Cork City are pleased to announce the signing of Mark O’Sullivan.

The 30 year old, who had a brief spell with City in 2010, has enjoyed much success with Avondale United, winning four FAI Intermediate Cups. O’Sullivan has also been capped at amateur level by the Republic of Ireland and has been a prolific goalscorer for a number of seasons in the Munster Senior League.

Speaking after signing for the club, the striker told CorkCityFC.ie: “I’m pleased to have signed for City; it’s a good club. I’ve worked with John Caulfield and John Cotter before, and they are excellent coaches, so I am looking forward to working with them again. My target is to try and win a place in the team and do well.”

Commenting on the signing, City coach John Cotter said he felt that O’Sullivan would be a good addition to the squad: “He has a great attitude, he’s very fit and he has trained hard with us over the last few weeks. He has probably been the top player at amateur level over the last five or six years, so he deserves a chance.”

“He’s very strong, very direct player, he can run at players and bring other people into the game and he scores goals as well, so hopefully he can do so at this level as well. John (Caulfield) actually signed him for Avondale and I have managed him for the last few years, so we know him very well personally, and also what he brings on the pitch.”
