Cork City FC are delighted to announce the return of John O’Flynn to the club.
After several seasons in England, the striker has signed back with the club until the end of the season, pending international clearance, and he told CorkCityFC.ie of his happiness at returning to the club: “I’m delighted to be back, it’s like the good old days. The lads are flying and there is a good buzz around the place.”
“I went to the Limerick game the other night, and you could see the buzz is back. The lads played some great football and they ran out comfortable winners. They play good attacking football and I am looking forward to being a part of that.”
“I’ve trained for the last few days and I have been really impressed with the standard; some of the young lads have great quality. It’s a big game Sunday, so we need to try and kick on. The lads have done really well all season, so hopefully I can play a part in a good season.”
Commenting on the signing, City manager John Caulfield said: “It’s brilliant to bring John in. Obviously we know him well from his last spell at the club, where he won a league title and an FAI Cup. He’s been in England for the last six years and about a month ago he expressed an interest in coming back.”
“He has a wealth of experience which our younger players can learn from, but crucially for us he gives us more options up front which is what we need. He is in the prime of his career and he is in fantastic condition; he’s been training with us for the last few days and he is fit as a fiddle, so he will straight go into the squad for Sunday.”
“It’s given everyone a lift. The squad can see that we are bringing in another top quality player and that shows our intentions. He has the right attitude to come into our set-up, and he has fitted into the group straight away.”
