Focus Ireland will be staging their first ever Big Rebel Sleep Out this coming weekend on Saturday 14th April.
With the support of Cork City FC the Big Rebel Sleep Out has the dual role of building awareness of the work of Focus Ireland and generating much needed funds for the organisation to deliver a range of services for the people of Cork.
Cork City FC will give More Than A Club Football Enterprise Coordinator, Erika Ni Thuama, their full backing for the event. Erika Ni Thuama has signed up for the Big Rebel Sleep Out with the young FAI employee taking up the challenge to support Focus Ireland.
Employed as Football Enterprise Coordinator by FAI at Cork City FC based in Bishopstown, Ni Thuama is looking forward to the challenge
“I am delighted to be part of this worthwhile Big Rebel Sleep Out. Focus Ireland do wonderful work here in Cork and it is great that Cork City FC are supporting the event”
Speaking at the Bishopstown Training Grounds, Ms Ni Thuama added
“It is a challenge for me to sleep out, even for just one night, and endure the harsh reality that some of our people have to face on a nightly basis. But I am preparing myself to sleep out and highlight the issues and what Focus Ireland deliver. Hopefully I will be ready on the night”
Focus Ireland works with people who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes across Ireland, working for the people of Cork since 2007, Focus Ireland works with in excess of 120 people on a monthly basis providing a one to one advice and information service to people in danger of becoming homeless, a Youth Housing service which has supported 50 young people find much needed homes and providing 30 much needed homes for families and individuals who were previously homeless or at risk.
