Their logo will also feature their European freephone number phone 116 123.
Speaking on the partnership, Cork City FC general manager Paul Wycherley said “We are delighted to link up again with Cork Samaritans as we embark on our European journey in July. We hope our campaign will raise national and European awareness of Samaritans and help eliminate the stigma around mental health.”
The Cork Samaritans branch opened its doors September 1972 and now has 155 active volunteers of all ages; from college students, middle aged to retired people. Every year the Cork branch receive approximately 70,000 calls, with over 1,000 people calling to the centre.
Aileen Spitere, Director of Cork Samaritans said “We are honoured to feature on Cork City’s jersey in European football’s elite club competitions! The Cork Samaritans worked with Cork City for the Green Ribbon Campaign back in May and it was a fantastic success. This is yet another very positive initiative in helping raise awareness and support.”
