CORK CITY FC are delighted to announce that Sarah Healy will take over as manager of our women’s under 17 team for the 2019 season.
Healy who began coaching with the club in 2016 as part of the women’s Academy set up will make the step up to management having been assistant manager last season to Shane Hurley, who has stepped down due to work commitments.
Speaking about her appointment the Midleton native had this to say.
“I’m delighted to be given this great opportunity by Cork City FC. I’ve been in the club now for a few years and worked my way from Academy coach and Academy manager to under 17 assistant manager and now this. The staff are positive, motivated and also have a lot of coaching experience. There is a good group of players with experience from last year and players in the Academy ready to step up. I’ve coached in the league last season, I know it will be tough but I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’m excited for the season ahead.”
“I’m really looking forward to getting started now. So far I have really enjoyed my time in the club. Similar to Ronán and Shane I got involved with the Academy and have been given the opportunity to progress as a coach from there. Next season we will aim to improve all the players and give them the best opportunity to progress in the game.”
Healy has previously coached Shelton FC in the United States for two years and has also managed teams for the Cork Schoolgirls League and Midleton FC. Last year she was a coach with the Munster and All-Ireland winning Cork Schoolboys League under 16 side.
Cork City FC would like to thank Shane Hurley for his work with the under 17 squad and wish him the best of luck in his future coaching career.
