Cork City Football Club Partners with Eventbrite – Lets fans buy tickets on Facebook and beat the queue with mobile tickets

Traditional paper format, print@home, smartphone, and smartwatch tickets now available for 2019 matches.

Cork City Football Club has partnered with Cork based Eventbrite (NYSE:EB), a global ticketing and event technology platform that powers millions of events, to introduce modern mobile ticketing to its loyal fans.

Starting today, Cork City fans have a multitude of new and more convenient options to get their hands on game tickets for the 2019 season: Alongside the traditional paper tickets that they can still queue for at the usual physical outlets, the club now offers digital tickets that fans can buy instantaneously on Facebook, on the club’s homepage, or via Eventbrite’s events marketplace. Existing season tickets remain valid for the entire 2019 season, and no action needs to be taken by season ticket holders.

While the new Eventbrite-powered tickets can be printed at home, fans may now skip this step and simply pull out their mobiles at the stadium gates to have their digital ticket scanned straight off their phone screens. Owners of Android or Apple smartwatches can go one step further and have their tickets displayed right on their wrist.

“We chose Eventbrite with our fans in mind”, says Paul Wycherley, General Manager at Cork City F.C. “Eventbrite’s system drastically reduces the hassle for our fans: they can get tickets for our games whenever and wherever they are: on the couch, on the bus, on Facebook – even on their way to the stadium. And apart from that it seems only fitting that a company creating jobs in Cork provides the ticketing for a Cork club.”

“As global as Eventbrite is, we also consider ourselves a Cork company”, says Amanda Darmody, Site Manager of Eventbrite’s Cork office at the top of South Mall. “It fills us with a special kind of pride to be trusted and recognised as locals by the city’s largest football club.”

Eventbrite opened its current 11,500 square feet office in an historical bank building at South Mall 97 in June 2018. The opening ceremony was attended by local and national dignitaries including Tánaiste Simon Coveney, Lord Mayor of Cork Tony Fitzgerald, and the IDA’s Executive Director Mary Buckley.
