Cork City FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Deasy as the club’s new Commercial and Marketing Manager.
Paul starts today in his new role and will be based in the offices in the Bishopstown Training Ground. His main focus will be to manage and develop the club’s commercial and sponsorship sales portfolio, including current and new partner relationships, and co-ordinate the club’s marketing strategy, including social media, campaigns and projects.
Paul was selected as a result of a thorough and rigorous recruitment process, from a field of high calibre candidates. For the last five years, he has been working with The Cork Independent as a Senior Advertising Account Manager. Paul graduated with a first -class honours degree in Marketing from CIT in 2014. He will be no stranger to the surroundings at the training ground and also Turner’s Cross, as Paul played for Cork City FC, starting with the Under 17s in 2006 right through to the first team until 2011. He was part of the team that played the first ever game for the club after FORAS took over, away to Derry City in 2010.
Commenting on his appointment, Paul said: “I am really looking forward to working in this exciting role at Cork City FC, which I feel suits me perfectly. How the club has developed in the last few years has impressed me, and I’m confident I can develop and grow the commercial side of the club, reaching new goals off the pitch. The club has received many accolades for its marketing and multimedia and I, together with the rest of the staff, will continue this good work. It does feel like a sense of coming back full circle and to somewhere I have good memories of working, but I’m back at Cork City to do a very different job this time.”
Cork City General Manager Paul Wycherley welcomed Paul’s appointment saying: “We were very pleased with how quickly we were able to recruit such an experienced, passionate and knowledgeable person for this role. I’m excited about what Paul will bring in heading up our commercial and marketing department. I would like to thank David Geary for the fantastic work he has done in the last two seasons and wish him good luck for his next challenges. Paul comes in to a re-structured role, where we will still be looking at possibilities to build further. Our targets for revenue generation in all off the field departments are higher in 2019, and with the team now coming to shape, I’m sure we have the right people and structures to achieve this, and also look further beyond.”
