Preview of Limerick friendly

Cork City will kick-off their 2019 pre-season with a friendly against Limerick on Saturday afternoon.

The game will take place at The Farm, and admission will be €5 for adults, with Under 16s free of charge.

Speaking to ahead of the game, City boss John Caulfield said:

“We are looking forward to the game. Obviously, Limerick were relegated last season, but they have retained a lot of their team. We have been back in training for over a week, and now is an opportunity for our supporters to see the team in action, which I am sure they are looking forward to.”

“We would expect to use seventeen to eighteen players over the ninety minutes. There are a couple of fellas we won’t use on Saturday, but we will use the majority of the first team players. Fellas will be competing for places, so I think this will be a good work-out for them.”

“A number of players have moved on from last season, so we have a lot of young players coming into the squad and it is a real opportunity for them. They are working very hard in training and we have liked what we have seen so far, so this will be a good test for us to gauge where we are at.”

An interview with John Caulfield is available on our Soundcloud channel.
