Cork City will be hoping to make it three wins in a row when they travel to face Limerick WFC this Sunday, April 21st in their latest Só Hotels Women’s National League match (KO 2pm at The Fairgreen of Fairview Rangers AFC).
The game comes off the back of a 3-0 win against DLR Waves last Saturday evening thanks to goals from Katie McCarthy, Lauren Egbulonui and Christina Dring, and City will be hoping to continue that form this Sunday against Limerick.
Christina Dring had this to say on scoring against DLR Waves and the game against Limerick: “It’s always great to get on the score sheet. I think I was a good team performance and the scoreline shows that. We have a good chance to get another 3 points this weekend if we prepare right during the week. Things are good at the moment there’s confidence in the squad that we can do well this season.”
Cork City manager Rónán Collins reflecting on the win against DLR Waves and looking ahead to the Limerick game had this to say: “It was a positive performance last weekend against DLR. We played some really good football at stages, it’s important we keep bringing that consistently. This weekend’s game against Limerick is another step to doing that. There was also some important milestones for some of the players. The competition in the squad continues to grow and we need to keep building on these positives.”
He continued: “We watched Limerick against Wexford last weekend and they changed formation in the second half. This made them look solid and they caused problems on the counter. We’re going to have to be vigilant to this get a stranglehold on the game and take our chances.”
