CCFC v UCD- Team news & coverage

Cork City return to Turner’s Cross on Friday for the first time since the departure of John Caulfield, as they welcome visitors UCD.

The Rebel Army will be looking to win their second consecutive match under the new interim management team, having defeated Bohemians last Friday in Dalymount Park. UCD will be looking to pick up their second victory over City this season, having come out 2-1 victors from the sides’ last meeting in April.

Speaking ahead of the game, interim City manager John Cotter said: “We need to build on last Friday night. UCD is another tough game, we’ve done our homework, we know what way we want to play against them. We’re under no illusions, it’s another tough game and we need to be at our best to come away with the three points again.”

“They beat us a few weeks ago up there, so we’ll be looking to go out and play well, to put our stamp on the game and get the three points. We’ll give them the respect that they deserve. When you start underestimating people, that creeps into players and that’s when you drop points.”

Shane Griffin is suspended, while Cotter confirmed that he is facing a number of injury concerns ahead of the game: “Karl Sheppard has an ongoing thing, he’s carrying a knock. Gearóid Morrissey is 50/50, Graham Cummins is carrying a knock as well, Darragh Crowley too. At this stage of the season we’ve had a heavy schedule, normally when you come out of these schedules you’ll always have a few knocks. Hopefully they clear up in the next few weeks because we’ve another heavy schedule coming up.”

Supporters are reminded that all adult season ticket holders can bring a friend for just €5. You can avail of this offer at any of our ticket outlets or at the ticket huts outside Turner’s Cross prior to kick-off, however it is not available through Eventbrite.
