WNL: Cork City 0-3 Peamount

Cork City fell to a 3-0 defeat in their latest Só Hotels Women’s National League match at Bishopstown on Sunday.

Peamount got off to the ideal start taking the lead through Amber Barrett from close range in the 2nd minute. Peamount continued to dominate much of the first half putting the City defence under severe pressure. They came close on the half hour mark through Elanaor Ryan Doyle but she was denied by Maria O’Sullivan in the Cork City goal. As the half ended City did start to get more into the game and have more possession but were unable to really test the Peamount goal and the first half ended 1-0 to Peamount

Peamount continued to dominate into the second half and doubled their lead on 50 minutes when a Megan Smyth Lynch cross from the left wing found Aine O’Gorman who headed home to make it 2-0 to Peamount. They wrapped up the game on the hour mark when Elanor Ryan Doyle played in Amber Barrett who beat the offside trap and put it away to make it 3-0.

There was few chances for either side in the remainder of the game, Maggie Duncliffe had an effort which went just wide of the goal while Maria O’Sullivan was forced to make a save to deny Amber Barret a hat-trick and the game finished 3-0 to Peamount United.

Next up for Cork City is a trip to Ferrycarrig Park next Saturday 25th of May as they play Wexford Youths WFC in the Só Hotels Women’s National League with a 6.30 kick off.
