Cork City return to Só Hotels Women’s National League action this Saturday 15th of June as they travel to Tolka Park to play Shelbourne FC with a 2pm kick off.
City have had a break since their last WNL game where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Wexford Youths and will be hoping to return to winning ways against Shelbourne. Cork City manager Rónán Collins spoke on that mini break and the preparation for Saturday’s game: “We’ve had a bit of a mini mid-season break from fixtures over the last few weeks. It’s allowed us a lot of time to get work done in different areas and try a few little changes. The girls have been brilliant and are developing all the time. It’s also come at a time when we’ve had players doing exams, away and a few injuries. It’s given a lot of player’s opportunities and those players will get the chance to show that this weekend.”
He continued speaking on Shelbourne: “Shels are always a good test and it’ll be great to be playing them in Tallaght. They’ve continued their good form and reached the league cup final so they’ll be in good shape for the match. Numbers are tight so some players will be in unfamiliar roles it’ll be good to see how they react in those situations. It’s a great test for them to show their development as individuals and as a team.”
City will be missing Ciara McNamara, Savannah McCarthy and Lauren Egbuloniu due to injury.
Injured: Lauren Egbuloniu, Ciara McNamara, Savannah McCarthy
