City travel to United Park in Thomastown to face Kilkenny United in their latest Só Hotels Women’s National League match this Sunday with a 2pm kick off.
City have been out of action in the last few weeks as the Peamount and Wexford games were postponed due to international call ups and Wexfords Champions League games, Cork City manager Rónán Collins reflected on what City have been working on in training during this break from action: “We’ve worked hard on pace of play over the last while. We’ll be hoping to bring that into the game, along with a real determination to win the ball back when we lose it. We’ve played a few training games over the last few weekends. That’s created tough competition in the squad and players are giving us a lot of good headaches, this weekend’s game is another opportunity for them to go out and stake a claim. That competition is really going to drive us on to be better.”
City travel to face Kilkenny United and will be hoping for a repeat of the two previous wins against them earlier in the season, Collins assessed what City are likely to face this Sunday “Kilkenny will be buoyed on after their result last week. They will be coming into the game with confidence and determination it’s up to us to deal with that. They can put you under pressure and get after the ball well.”
City will be without Lauren Egbuloniu, Savannah McCarthy and Shaunagh McCarthy due to injury.
