Dundalk v CCFC – Team news and coverage

Cork City travel to Oriel Park tomorrow evening, to face table-toppers Dundalk. This will be the fourth meeting of the sides this season, with the Louth side coming out on top in each of the season’s previous outings.

New City Head Coach Neale Fenn is still in search of his first point since his return to the club, having been defeated at home twice last weekend, losing 4-2 to Sligo Rovers on Friday evening and 2-1 to Waterford on Monday. The home side are currently enjoying a better run of form, having won 5 league games in a row.

Speaking at his weekly press conference ahead of the game, Fenn spoke of the challenge that awaits in Oriel Park:

“It’s a hugely difficult game for us; we’re going to travel up there, we know a hard working performance will be required, the boys know that, and we’re looking forward to it.

When asked about last weekend’s results, Fenn said:

“Nobody likes losing. When you’ve dominated a game for large spells, and played well for large spells, disappointment does set in. We’ve had to pick ourselves back up. It was a disappointing night, results-wise, but when you look at the positives – we played some good stuff, created lots of chances, we just need to do the same against Dundalk on Friday and work hard to dig out a result.”

“We need a reaction. We need to learn lessons from Monday, which I’m sure we have. It’s going to be tough. We’re under no illusions whatsoever, going up to Dundalk, it’s a daunting prospect but it’s one we’re looking forward to.”

In squad news, Cian Bargary and Cian Murphy remain sidelined, while there are still a few players carrying knocks from Monday’s game against Waterford, but they will be given until tomorrow to be assessed.
