Cork City return to Só Hotel’s FAI Women’s Senior Cup action this Sunday 8th of September as they host Shelbourne FC at Bishopstown with a 2pm kick off.
The game comes on the back of City’s 5-1 win against Wilton United in the first round and will be the fourth time City have faced Shelbourne this season and will be hoping for a first victory to bring them to the next round of the Cup. Cork City manager Rónán Collins spoke on the strengths of Shelbourne ahead of Sunday’s game: “It’s great to be bringing another big women’s cup weekend to Cork. Two good footballing sides it’s bound to be a great match. Shelbourne move the ball well and are comfortable in possession. They’re a good team and they will no doubt add to the occasion. We’ve played already 3 times this year and will be playing each other twice more in the next week so we’re going to get to know each other very well.”
He continued speaking on what City aim to do against Shelbourne: “Things have been good in the squad the girls are really looking forward to the game. We’ve set our targets when in possession and not in possession if we can execute them we are going to put ourselves in a strong position.”
City will be without Lauren Egbuloniu, Savannah McCarthy and Shaunagh McCarthy due to injury.
