A host of Cork City legends will take to the Turner’s Cross pitch, to mark the testimonial match of City legend, Alan Bennett. A wide variety of former players will once again don the colours of City, with big names such as George O’Callaghan, Neal Horgan, Dave Barry and Patsy Freyne making an appearance, along with 2017 FAI Cup Final hero Achille Campion, who also returns for the match.
Members of the current men’s and women’s first teams will also be involved. City have today confirmed that current head coach Neale Fenn will line out for the legends’ side on the day. The game will kick-off at 3 PM and tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite, as well as from the ticket huts prior to kick-off.
The game celebrates the massive success of Bennett’s career, which began when he joined the youth ranks at Cork City from Richmond in 2000. After graduating to the first team, where he won a league title in 2005, he moved across the water, signing for Reading in 2007. Benno returned to the club ahead of the 2015 season, having spent 8 years in England. After his spell at Reading, he played for Southampton, Brentford, Wycombe Wanderers, Cheltenham Town and AFC Wimbledon, as well as being capped twice at international level.
Speaking ahead of the game, Bennett said: “Look, it’s important to mark it, and have some sort of event which marks previous players that have been successful with this club. It’s very humbling. People are giving up their time, free of charge.”

Proceeds from the day will go to the Cork Samaritans and the Cork City FC Academy.
