A 2-0 win over Waterford last weekend means the Under 19s go into their final group game away to Galway United, having secured top spot ahead of second-placed Shamrock Rovers. Colin Healy’s side can now look forward to a home quarter-final fixture on the weekend of October 5th/6th.
Also in action against Galway United this weekend are the Under 17s, under Head Coach Liam Kearney, with their fixture taking place at Bishopstown on Saturday at 2 pm. A win in that game will secure a second-place finish and also book them a home quarter-final place on the first weekend in October.
Billy Woods’ Under 15s have finished their league campaign and are in cup action this weekend. They face a short trip to Waterford on Saturday, in Under 15 League Cup Group 3.
Under 13 League Cup Group 4 sees Mayfield United will host the action, also on Saturday, as Dave Moore’s side face UCD. As with the U15s, they have also concluded their league campaign.
The Women’s U17s have also progressed from the group stage of their league; Sarah Healy’s side are set for a home fixture in the upcoming semi-finals in October.
Cork City Head of Academy Colin Healy said:
“It has been a very positive season for our academy teams. All of the teams competed very well in their leagues, and we have also had a number of players who have progressed up through the ranks; from the 15s to the 17s, from the 17s to the 19s and, of course, from the 19s to the first team squad. Player development is the most important thing and the progression of players is something we all take a lot of pride in. Going into the final stages of the season, each team still has plenty to play for, so hopefully it will be an exciting and successful end to the season.”
