Cork City travel to Tallaght on Friday, to face Shamrock Rovers in their final game of the 2019 season.
The Rebel Army come into the game off the back of their first two consecutive victories since May, having defeated UCD & Dundalk in their last two outings. The home side come into the game with a second place finish guaranteed, and a cup final to look forward to next weekend.
Speaking in SoHo Bar & Restaurant, at his press conference, City boss Neale Fenn said: “It’s a game we definitely want to go and win, and we feel we can win. They’ve obviously got a cup final to look forward to, so we’ll go up there and if we play like we did the last few weeks, we’ve got a great chance.”
Last week’s match-winner Daire O’Connor also faced the press, and he spoke of his joy at notching a few goals in recent weeks. “Since he’s come in, I’ve scored three, compared to the start of the season when I didn’t score at all. It’d be nice to finish the season with three wins in a row. In a way, the season is finishing at a bad time for us, just as we’re picking up form. I think everyone’s realising that. If we could get three wins from three, it’d give everyone that’s coming back next season a big lift.”
