WNL: Treaty Utd 2-5 CCFC

Cork City made it two wins from two after a 5-2 win against Treaty United at Jackson Park in their latest Women’s National League match with two goals from Christina Dring and Sophie Liston and a goal from Eabha O’Mahony.

City started the match much the stronger with early chances for Eabha O’Mahony and Lauren Egbuloniu but neither were able to convert their chances. Saoirse Noonan also came close with a free kick on the edge of the box in the 12th minute but her effort went just over the bar. City got the breakthrough in the 17th minute as Sophie Liston set up Eabha O’Mahony to make it 1-0 to City.

City continued to dominate the game and pressed for a second with O’Mahony firing close and Saoirse Noonan having an effort well saved. The pressure told and City made it 2-0 in the 38th minute as a Christina Dring throw in found Lauren Egbuloniu who’s shot on goal was parried by the Treaty United goalkeeper but Sophie Liston was on hand to put it away and make it 2-0.

City didn’t let up the pressure into the second half as Sophie Liston was on hand again to score her second in the 47th minute after being picked out by Maria O’Sullivan where she swiftly put it away. Dring made it 4 in the 61st minute with a good finish from close range. City almost had 5 a few minutes later with Laura Shine having the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside. Dring did make it 5 in the 75th minute after Becky Cassin got the ball to Saoirse Noonan who laid it off for Dring to apply the finishing touch.
