A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER: MATCH DAY ATMOSPHERE/THE SHED

A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER: MATCH DAY ATMOSPHERE/THE SHED

Just an update following our meeting with supporters last Saturday. Thanks to all those who attended, and who in turn have been spreading the word to others who couldn’t make it.

The meeting involved myself, our COO Éanna Buckley, Paul Byrne from the Board of Cork City FC and dozens of our loyal supporters.

I had wanted to hold the meeting on the back of some supporter feedback, and to discuss some Health and Safety Concerns the club have in the Shed area of the ground.

I am happy to report that this was a very positive meeting; all attendees were very engaged and there were a number of very good suggestions made. We went into the meeting very keen to find fan-led solutions to the issues that people have highlighted.

We believe that some very workable ideas emerged.

The Shed End is the main singing section, the heart and soul of the ground, and we want to work with the supporters to make it the very best it can be.

As a club, we want to do everything we can to give our supporters the platform to generate the best possible atmosphere at Turner’s Cross, and we are confident that the ideas discussed on Saturday will help in that regard.

As part of the dialogue with the fans, the club will be trialling a new reservation system at the back of Block T of the Shed for regular attendees, with a wristband system being put in operation. The wristbands will be allocated via supporter representatives on match night with the intention of ensuring that they are allocated fairly amongst all of those who wish to contribute to the atmosphere.

I am making a commitment to you that the club will continue to engage with supporter representatives on an ongoing basis, with another meeting set to be held in a couple of months.

However, if you have any ideas to improve the atmosphere on match days, or have identified an issue that you believe should be brought to the club's attention, then please contact us.

Thanks and regards,

Dermot Usher
Owner, Cork City FC
