Blarney United vs Cork City
|03/02/17||19:30||Munster Senior Cup||2017|
An almost full strength City side brushed aside the challenge of Blarney United at O’Shea Park.
It didn’t take City long to get off the mark with Stephen Dooley finishing with a fine effort with only two minutes on the clock. City’s lead was doubled after eight minutes when Sean Maguire scored from the spot after Connor Ellis was fouled.
City were completely dominant after this with crosses from McCormack and Dooley both failing to find their targets. Their lead was extended on 39 minutes however when Connor Ellis crossed for Dooley to score his second of the evening.
City rang the changes on the hour mark as Beattie, Sheppard, Morrissey and Buckley replaced Kavanagh, Dooley, Maguire and McCormack.
It took only 9 minutes for the substitutes to make their mark on the game as Karl Sheppard headed home from a corner and it was Sheppard who saved the best until last when on 81 minutes he finished beautifully after a nice pass from Morrissey.
Martin O’Sullivan forced Alan Smith into a save with only two minutes to go but it was City who eased into the final of the Munster Senior Cup with a comfortable win.
