Recap
A three goal blitz in as many minutes saw Cork City run out convincing winners against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.
City started the game well and they hit the front inside ten minutes, as Sean McLoughlin fired home from close range after the home side failed to clear a free kick. For the next ten minutes or so, it looked as though City would add to their lead as they continued to threaten, with Sadlier forcing a good save from the keeper on the quarter hour.
Just before the half hour, Mark McNulty was forced into action for the first time as he got down to deny Kelly. The home side had gained somewhat of a foothold in the game but that was the only occasion on which they really worked McNulty. City came close again just before the half hour, as a last ditch challenge denied McNamee when through on goal.
After the restart, City began to pick up the pace and they doubled their lead on 65 minutes as McNamee strode forward before planting a fine effort across the keeper and into the bottom corner. Within two minutes, it was 3-0, as Sadlier’s free kick from the left wing deceived everyone and went straight to the back of the net.
Amazingly, City were not done yet, as they made it four within a minute of the restart with the pick of the bunch. This time, there was no doubt as to who’s goal it was, as Sadlier let fly from over 30 yards with an absolute rocket that screamed into the roof of the net to complete the scoring.
