Cork City FC can confirm that after nine years, Christina Dring has departed the club due to work commitments.
Since signing for City in 2017, the striker made over 170 competitive appearances, scoring 31 goals. In her first season, Christina was a member of the FAI Cup winning team that defeated UCD Waves at the Aviva and also featured in the 2020 FAI Cup Final at Tallaght Stadium, where City lost out to Peamount.
Women’s First Team manager Barry Ryan praised Christina’s impact during her time at the club saying: ”Chris has been an incredible servant to the club over many seasons and has always scored important goals and made big contributions.”
“She serves as a great reference point for the younger players in terms of the work ethic of a City player. Unfortunately work commitments have brought her time as a City player to an end but hopefully we'll see her back at some point in the future.”
Speaking for the final time as a City player, the 26-year-old said: “Playing for City has been one of the proudest things in my life and something I will never forget. From joining at 17, to winning an FAI cup in my first season, making over one hundred appearances and playing at Turners Cross week in week out, there are endless great memories.”
“I am grateful for everyone I’ve crossed paths with thanks to playing for the club and can say that I have friends for life. I would never rule out coming back in the future but for now I just want to thank all the people that have made the experience so special.”
Christina leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the club, and we would like to wish her the very best of luck for the future.
