Cork City FC wish to advise all supporters that, as per the FAI statement issued this afternoon, all footballing activities have been suspended until March 29th, as a result of Covid-19 prevention measures.
As a result, tomorrow’s game against Bohemians has been postponed. Further details around this and other fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
All of the club's academy and women's team matches will also be postponed until further notice.
The announcement was made after a meeting with the Government, Department of Health officials and other national sporting bodies this afternoon.
The Football Association of Ireland is now working closely with the NLEC and the PFAI on this matter. CCFC representatives will continue to liaise with the steering group established by the FAI, which will present its findings to government and UEFA in relation to the financial implications for SSE Airtricity League clubs and players along with proposals on how best the Irish football industry can be protected.
We wish to advise all supporters that season tickets and match tickets purchased for upcoming games will be honoured at a future date, and we will release regular communications in this regard.
Chairman Declan Carey said: "This is an extremely difficult time for all League of Ireland clubs as revenue from gate receipts is crucial to the continued operation of the club as a business. We encourage all supporters to continue supporting the club through FORAS membership fees, merchandise orders online and through continuing to purchase match tickets where it is financially viable for you to do so."
"These are clearly concerning times for our supporters, staff, players and their family and friends. Everyone’s health is the priority, and we would ask the supporters of Cork City FC to once again come together, support one another, and look after yourselves".
Tickets for Cork City v Bohemians can still be purchased from Eventbrite.
