Team news ahead of Derry City match!
Cork City are in action for the final time in the 2020 season as they welcome Derry City to Turner's Cross on Monday evening. It will be the first game for the Rebel Army since the confirmation of a tenth-placed finish, while the Candystripes come into the game knowing that a point will be enough to avoid finishing in the play-off spot. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, interim City boss Colin Healy said: " Since the Sligo game, it's been two weeks of training. The pressure is never off. In training sessions, we're looking for high standards from everybody and we wouldn't accept anything less. Just because we're down at the bottom, doesn't mean we'll do things lightly and give lads any days off. It's a results business. Yes, I've seen an improvement in performances, but you need to get results. Hopefully, on Sunday, we can go out and get a win." Midfielder Henry Ochieng was also on media duties this week, and he spoke of the mood within the squad after the events of the last few weeks: "We know the situation now. We've still got one game to go, so for the last two weeks we've prepared and done things professionally. We want to finish off the season in a strong way. We can't hide from the fact that the performances haven't been good, the table doesn't lie. We have to take a good hard look at ourselves and go again next year." On the injury front, Healy has a full squad to choose from, with the exception of Joseph Olowu and Deshane Dalling who have returned to their parent clubs: "Joseph Olowu and Deshane Dalling have gone back to England. Joe would've been suspended for the Derry game, and Deshane had picked up an injury, so it made sense for them to go back." The match will be broadcast live on the SSE Airtricity League’s brand-new streaming service, #WATCHLOI! Supporters can purchase a Half-Season Pass for just €39, which will ensure access to streams of all remaining SSE Airtricity League Premier Division matches for the rest of the season, as well as select FAI Cup ties. Alternatively, you can purchase Match Passes on a game-by-game basis, priced at €5 per game. Sign up here.
