Team news ahead of Shelbourne match

Cork City are back in home league action on Friday evening, as they welcome old foes Shelbourne to Turner's Cross. It will be the third meeting of the sides this season, with the Dublin side taking the points in both previous outings.

The Rebel Army come into the game off the back of last Friday's 3-1 victory over Athlone Town at Turner's Cross, leaving City unbeaten in their last nine games, while Shelbourne had a convincing 4-0 win over Wexford at Tolka Park.

Speaking at his weekly press conference in Bishopstown, City boss Colin Healy praised the City supporters for the incredible atmosphere last weekend: "The fans are incredible. The players are absolutely loving having them back. When the fans are in, Turner's Cross is the best place to play your football. We had over 1200 supporters at the Athlone game, and there's going to be even more on Friday against Shelbourne. We're all looking forward to it - the more fans we can get in, the better."

"We're scoring goals and we look very dangerous going forward at the moment. We'd fancy ourselves against anyone. Shelbourne are a very good side, they're at the top of the table for a reason. It's going to be a very difficult game but it's one that we're all looking forward to, We're going into the game with a lot of confidence so there's no reason we can't put in a good performance."

On the injury front, Josh Honohan is training, but Healy says he will be "touch and go" for Friday. Gearóid Morrissey is close to a return, but Friday's match will come too soon for him. Cian Coleman and Gordon Walker both miss out through suspension.

Tickets for the game are available from Eventbrite - here.

The match will also be broadcast on LOI TV, with commentary from Cork’s Red FM’s Ruairi O’Hagan and City legend Philip Long. You can buy an End of Season Pass for €25, or purchase a single match pass for just €5.
