Cork City came out on top of a close game Oscar Trainor Centre in Dublin in the Women’s National League om Saturday thanks to goals from Lauren Egbuloniu, Christina Dring and a second half double from Laura Shine. City started the stronger of the two sides pushing forward with Sophie Liston setting up Lauren Egbuloniu whose effort on goal was saved in the 5th minute. Liston was again involved with a good run leading to an effort on goal which went just wide in the 17th minute. City’s efforts were rewarded in the 21st minute when a Sophie Liston cross found Saoirse Noonan who headed on to the path of Lauren Egbuloniu who put it home to give City a 1-0 lead. City quickly doubled their lead in the 25th minute when an Eabha O’Mahony cross found Christina Dring who put it into the net to give City a 2-0 lead. City continued to have much of the ball in the first half but Maria O’Sullivan was called into action in the 31st minute to make a fantastic save from a Bohemians corner to keep City’s 2-0 lead intact and the first half ended with a 2-0 advantage to Cork City. Bohemians came out much the stronger at the start of the second half with Aoife Robinson scoring in the 47th minute. They got the equaliser in the 54th minute as Alannah Maxwell got the goal. City retook the lead through second half substitute Laura Shine scoring after a strong run into the box. She got her second goal of the match in the 85th minute as she was on hand to finish off a Sophie Liston cross. Bohemians finished off the scoring with Alannah Maxwell finishing off a quick counter attacking move and the game finished up 4-3 to City. City travel to Limerick on Tuesday 8th of September to play their rescheduled game against Treaty United at Jackman Park.
