City 7-0 Bonagee - FAI Cup

Cork City are through to the next round of the Evoke.ie Women’s FAI Cup as they ran out 7-0 winners against Bonagee United at Turner’s Cross on Sunday 10th of July.

City started the stronger side pushing forward looking for the opening goal and got the lead in the 9th minute as Eva Mangan sent Orlaith Deasy free down the left wing who sent a cross in front of the goal and it was poked home by Lauren Singleton to give City a 1-0 lead.. City doubled their lead in the 19th minute as Mangan won the ball high up and after a mazy run into the box set it up for Christina Dring to put it home to make it 2-0.

City quickly made it 3-0 as Mangan turned provider again as she sent the ball into the box for Aoibhin Donnelly to run onto where she rounded the goalkeeper and defence and put it home to give City a 3-0 half time lead.

City came out very strong in the second half scoring two goal very quickly, first Zara Foley sent Chloe Atkinson free down the right wing where she worked her way into the box and applied a great finish from a tight angle to make it 4-0. City made it 5 from the kick off as they won the ball and Ciara McNamara found Aoibhin Donnelly free down the left working her way into the box she set it up for Eva Mangan to tap it home to make it 5-0.

City made it 6 in the 63rd minute as Mangan sent in a corner which was headed home by Zara Foley with a textbook header. City had a chance to make it 7 in the 69th minute as they were awarded a penalty, Laura Shine stepped up but her effort was well saved by the Bonagee goalkeeper. Shine made up for the miss heading home the seventh goal in the 79th minute as she connected with an Eva Mangan corner and it finished 7-0 to Cork City.

City return to SSE Airtricity Women’s National League action on 16th of July as they travel to Eamon Deacy Park to face Galway United with a 6pm kick off.
