Cork City FC are delighted to confirm that our scheduled fixture against Sligo Rovers on Saturday, 16th May is to go ahead - on FIFA 20!
The Rebel Army have teamed up with the Bit O’Red to provide supporters with a unique, virtual matchday, which fans can buy tickets for, and watch exclusively online on the night. The match will be broadcast on YouTube, with commentary from RTE’s Adrian Eames, analysis from Alan Cawley, and Tony O’Donoghue will bring supporters the latest news in the build up to the game.
Speaking ahead of the announcement, Éanna Buckley, Cork City FC Operations Manager, said:
“We are all missing football so we are very pleased to have joined forces with Sligo Rovers to run what we hope will be a fun and entertaining event. The way our supporters have rallied behind the club has been fantastic, and it is greatly appreciated by all of us.”
City boss Neale Fenn welcomed the news, saying:
“We should be making the trip to the Showgrounds to face Sligo next week, but obviously that’s not happening now. However, it is great to see that the clubs have linked up and will be playing each other online instead. This is an excellent initiative and if I had any idea about gaming I would certainly be getting involved!”
There will be a match programme available ahead of the game, with news and features from both sides, and Sligo Rovers are hosting a half-time raffle for supporters, with great prizes up for grabs!
We’d like to encourage supporters to show their support on the night, send us your photos of your City colours and tell us where you’ll be watching the game from!
Tickets for the match can be purchased through Eventbrite, from this link.
