Murray, Drinan & Nevin Sign New Contracts

Cork City FC are pleased to announce a trio of contract extensions. Conor Drinan & Harry Nevin have both put pen to paper on new deals to see them remain at the club for the 2026 season, while Matthew Murray, who was already contracted for 2026, has extended his contract further.

In what is a very busy period for the club as preparations continue for the FAI Cup Final, City boss Ger Nash is also preparing for next season, and is pleased to have the trio nailed down: “We are really pleased to have agreed a contract extension with Matt. He’s another player that has come through the academy under Liam Kearney, and someone the club have had high hopes for some time. As an Ireland Under 19 International, and given how he burst onto the scene a couple of months ago, he has naturally attracted interest from abroad, so for him to extend his contract is very positive news for all parties. It gives the player certainty and peace of mind about where we see him and how much we value him, while it also puts the club in a good position in terms of financial protection regarding our best young players, something that is very important."

"Conor is just coming back from a long-term injury, but has really impressed me with his desire to get back and fight for a place in the team. He’s a versatile, athletic player who gives us options all down the left hand side of the team, and he is also another Cork lad who is desperate to do well for this club.”

“I am really pleased that Harry has signed a new deal. He has obviously been out for the last number of games with an injury, but he has worked his way to fitness now and is back in contention for a place in the squad. He is another Cork lad who loves the club, a terrific character, a good athlete, and he gives us another option in defensive areas, so I am pleased that we have him secured for another season."

Speaking ahead of the announcement, Conor Drinan said: “I’m thrilled to have signed back with City for the 2026 season. It was very hard for me being out injured for so long, but I’m glad to have been back on the pitch and now the aim is to finish the season strong, and continue that into next season.

Harry Nevin said: “I’m delighted to have signed back with City again. I’m looking forward to getting games under my belt and getting City back to where they should be.”

Matthew said: “It was great to get a taste of first team action over the last couple of months. I’ve had a couple of good conversations with Ger, and I really like the plans he has set out for the next few years. We’ve got a big end to the season coming up, and I look forward to that and what lies ahead.”
