Cork City FC are back on the road this Friday, making the trip to County Louth to take on Dundalk at Oriel Park
The Rebel Army come into the game looking to halt their recent run of losses, facing a Dundalk side coming off the back of last week’s victory away to Sligo Rovers. It will be the second meeting of the sides this season, with City taking the points in April’s meeting at Turner’s Cross, thanks to Cian Murphy’s goal.
Richie Holland was in the press conference hot seat again this week, saying: “We’re all working very hard behind the scenes. We’re all in this together. at the moment, we need to keep in touch with the place above us – to do that, we have to win games, so we want to start winning games quickly.”
“Dundalk are a very good side. They’ve got really good, experienced players within that squad. I think they’ll get stronger as the season goes on. Stevie has a good way of playing, and he wants them to be on the front foot as well. It will be a good game on Friday.”
City captain Cian Coleman was also on media duty on this week, saying: “We played very well in the first half last week. As a team we didn’t do ourselves any favours in the second half. We need to learn to see out games – we were 2-1 up at half time. We can’t be letting teams back into the game. We just have to keep going. It’s a long season, and we know we can turn it around. It’s going to be tough, but we have to go into the game on Friday, give it a right crack, and hopefully come back with three points”
On the injury front, Jonas Häkkinen is rated as 50/50, Cian Bargary is still out while Albin Winbo looks to be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, after the injury he picked up against Bohemians. Aaron Bolger returns from suspension for this one, but Ally Gilchrist has two games remaining on his ban.
